Category Archives: EPC Overlays for Industrial Needs
Epoxy refers to a wide range of components most commonly found in resin form. Also called polyepoxides or EPC, these compounds are used for a range of applications, including sealing concrete, asphalt, and other heavy traffic surfaces. E-Chem specializes in epoxy overlays for these purposes and offers the best quality and value on the market. As experts in the field of adhesive manufacturing, we offer the top products for the preservation and repair of concrete — but we know that every job is unique, so we pride ourselves on offering customized solutions that are designed to meet the requirements of each individual client we serve.
Overlays
E-Chem primarily specializes in overlay products for roads, bridges, and concrete structures. These products are specially formulated to provide superior safety and durability. Astringent quality control process ensures that products are in compliance with all applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and DOT requirements. This, in conjunction with the on-site support that we provide, sets our products apart from those of competitors. Rely on our portfolio of project assessments and technical reports for further reassurance that E-Chem products are strong, stable, and safe. We are trusted by contractors and backed by scientists, so you can be confident in your decision when you choose E-Chem for all of your epoxy sealant needs.
What Is Epoxy Overlay?
An epoxy overlay is a sealant designed to preserve, rehabilitate, or repair the underlying surface. Also called EPC, this formula is designed to withstand extreme levels of traffic and severe elements. The formula consists of an epoxy binder, a coarse aggregate, and sand. An alternative to polyester polymer concrete — or PPC — EPC allows for safer and stronger bonding than its polyester counterpart.
Epoxy overlays also allow for shorter road closures and bonding without the use of an additional agent. PPC requires the use of a bonding agent, which then necessitates the maintenance of a very low moisture level so that the primer can properly cure. On the other hand, EPC eliminates the need for this curing period, thus saving precious time and money throughout the duration of your project.
What Are Epoxy Adhesives Used For?
Epoxy adhesives can be used for a variety of projects. The simple formulation means that EPC can be easily mixed in a five-gallon bucket, or for larger-scale projects, it can be applied using a mixing truck. Some of the different kinds of projects that an EPC can be used for include:
These are just a few of the many applications that EPC is ideal for. Any job that requires an epoxy sealant can benefit from an E-Chem EPC formulation. Designed to perform and preserve, EPC adhesives provide a bond that outlasts PPC and any other alternative.
What Are the Types of Overlay Offered by E-Chem?
Free from solvents and insensitive to moisture, the EPC-OVERLAY product is designed to bond instantly with concrete. In addition to overlay, it can be used to patch, rehabilitate, and repair concrete surfaces to significantly extend their lifespan. No field chemistry is required, and it is VOC compliant.
This low-modulus epoxy urethane copolymer is an overlay resin that lasts longer than traditional EPC products. Its coating is completely waterproof and impervious to chloride, meaning that it’s ideal for providing a skid-resistant overlay to bridges or elevated slabs. It is VOC compliant and comprised of 100% solids.
When time is of the essence, the EPX50-OVERLAY FAST is the right EPC for the job. This formula is designed to be fast-setting and compatible with lower temperature applications so that shorter lane closures are necessary. It can also be used for smaller jobs by treating cracks and patching holes in existing concrete overlays.
Comprised of 100% solids and designed to be insensitive to moisture, this formulation is made from just two components. Its simplicity is matched by its versatility, with possible applications ranging from bonding for a skid-resistant overlay to patching concrete.
